Super Bowl weekend will bring UFC fans a long-awaited superfight between featherweight champion Jose Aldo and former UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar. The featherweight title fight will take place at UFC 156 in Las Vegas on February 2. The bout was briefly slated to headline UFC 153 in Rio before Aldo was forced to withdraw due to an injury. “I’m pumped,” UFC president Dana White told USA Today when the bout was first made in August. “I think that people are going to be very excited for this fight.” (Click for full interview) “This is not only a world title fight but also a superfight that has long been a dream match for many fans,” said White. “Aldo and Edgar are two fantastic fighters who are always a part of the pound-for-pound debate.” The news was first announced Tuesday on UFC Tonight, FUEL TV’s weekly news program.
